Our story
Hemma began with a simple idea: the things we live with every day should be quiet, useful, and made to last.
How we started
Hemma grew out of a small studio and a frustration with homeware that was either disposable or precious. We wanted pieces that sat somewhere calmer — honest materials, considered proportions, and finishes that only get better with use. We started with a handful of designs and made each one only when someone ordered it.
What we believe
Good design should be unremarkable in the best sense — it should simply work, and keep working. We favour natural materials, neutral palettes, and forms that don't shout. Nothing in the range is designed to be replaced next season.
Made in small batches
Everything is made to order in the United Kingdom by makers we know. That keeps waste low, quality high, and the story behind each piece close to home. You can read more about how this works on our Made on demand page.
